Meet DaraK!
Copilot Trip Winner
What is the most interesting project you copiloted at Topcoder and why?
The APC TaaS - this one was a challenge. The speed we had to move at, the tech language, the many things I learned, and also the designers I worked with.
What is your most memorable Topcoder challenge and why?
Jessie’s Design Month Dash Challenge round 1 to 3 was definitely memorable. This challenge had a unique concept and scale. I helped Jessie to coordinate all 3 rounds of challenges. This included most of all the design copilots, and 99% of the designers, to submit together. There were also many new first time judges from sales, marketing, developers, etc. The results were awesome!
Is Topcoder your full time job and if so, why does it work for you?
Yes. I enjoy working with such great people - members and admin. I also really like the unique and diverse projects, the freedom to travel, and the freedom to work from any place.
What do you do when not working?
I spend my free time reading and traveling.
Where do you work? Tell us about your space(s).
I do my work from my room. I have a PC with 2 monitors attached, which is very helpful for multitasking. I recently bought a MacBook. I’m still transitioning to using it 100%.
What kind of music do you listen to while working on your solutions?
Psytrance.
What’s the best tip or piece of advice you can share with other members at Topcoder?
Hard work pays off at Topcoder. Keep submitting and learn from your mistakes.
What does Topcoder mean to you?
Family. Passion. Exciting projects.
What are you most excited about for this year’s TCO Finals?
I’m excited to see the Design Finals and Girls in STEM.
Do you strive to be at TCO every year and if so, why does it matter to you?
Yes, this is the only time every year when I can see my Topcoder friends and the people I work with every day.
What was your secret to getting a ticket for the TCO finals more than once?
I always try to continue to improve myself.
