Meet dhruvit_r!
F2F Finalist
What is the most interesting challenge you competed on at Topcoder and why?
I worked on this series of F2Fs where I had to run performance tests to determine the best-performing permutation of UI rendering method, API server, and database management system. It was really interesting because the target of the challenge was so novel, and the tech stack consisted of software that I had never worked with before. Also, it was these challenges that gave me a huge boost on the leaderboard!
What is your most memorable Topcoder challenge and why?
This has to be the Hercules Zeta series of challenge that started about nine months ago. The co-pilots were great, the tasks were challenging, the pay was awesome and I was learning something new everyday.
Who do you think is the most fierce or talented coder at Topcoder and why?
It wouldn’t be fair to name any single member here. Most members I see regularly on the submissions tab of the challenges are pretty awesome.
What is the programming language you most relate to and why?
Javascript/NodeJS, because of the lovely nuances of the language, the abundance of community-built plugins, the number of platforms it supports and the ease with which programs can be debugged.
What do you do when not working?
I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, staying fit, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Where do you work? Tell us about your space(s).
I do all of my work from my room. Until recently, I used to work on my 2018 MacBook Pro. I’ve recently bought a 32" monitor to complement the laptop, so I can have a bigger screen to work on.
What kind of music do you listen to while working on your solutions?
I enjoy pop and alternative music. Violet City by Mansionair is my current favorite.
What’s the best tip or piece of advice you can share with other members at Topcoder?
Be curious and keep challenging yourself!
What does Topcoder mean to you?
It has also allowed me to work on some great projects, which is really satisfying.
How does it feel to be a first time TCO Finalist?
I’ve worked with people from around the world, and it’s pretty awesome to get to meet them in person.
What are you most looking forward to at your first-ever TCO Finals?
I intend to enjoy, and then enjoy some more. And maybe learn a little as well.
Did you strive to make it TCO this year and if so, why does it matter to you?
I worked hard to make it to TCO, and it’s really satisfying for the efforts to pay off. I love new experiences, and I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun there! :-)
