What is the most interesting challenge you competed on at Topcoder and why?
Each challenge has different requirements. You should always keep learning to design and implement the best solution. I think that makes every challenge interesting.

What is your most memorable Topcoder challenge and why?
The first challenge that I competed in was definitely the most memorable. The objective was to implement the user preferences page for a community app. I didn’t win that one. However, the feedback I received helped me to win later challenges by teaching me what is expected from each submission, and which aspects are the most important.

Who do you think is the most fierce or talented coder at Topcoder and why?
Jiangliwu. He competes in wide variety of challenges and is successful at each of them. Taking first place in all four stages of the development track is only possible for the most talented coder.

What is the programming language you most relate to and why?
Recently, I use Javascript and Python.

What do you do when not working?
Traveling, playing bass guitar, and reading.

Where do you work? Tell us about your space(s).
If I have my backpack with me, anywhere is an office.

If you could give your past self one piece of advice, what would it be?
You should checkout Topcoder, you’ll love it.

What kind of music do you listen to while working on your solutions?
Jazz, fusion, and funk.

What is the dream project you want to build, design, or solve for?
I want to make a story driven game.

What’s the best tip or piece of advice you can share with other members at Topcoder?
Even when you’re the only one that competes in a challenge, never limit yourself to ‘good enough’. Try to do the best. That is how you’ll improve yourself.

How does it feel to be a first time TCO Finalist?
It was one of my goals for this year, so I’m pretty satisfied that I achieved. I’m also very excited to attend such a great event.

What are you most looking forward to at your first-ever TCO Finals?
Meeting community members.

Did you strive to make it TCO this year and if so, why does it matter to you?
It was a yearly challenge that I set for myself. That’s why I worked hard to achieve it.
